Gunfire Detection Technology Approved by City Council

At Monday night's meeting, the Charlotte City Council voted unanimously to bring the ShotSpotter technology to Charlotte, NC.  CMPD thinks it will improve public safety and give officers better information to help them solve crimes quickly.  It is unknown where in the city this technology will be used and it will not be ready by the time the DNC is here.

The ShotSpotter Gunfire Detection System uses sound acoustics to pinpoint where gunfire comes from and costs $50,000 for a one-year test period.
