1 Dead in Charlotte Collision

A car crash in North Charlotte leaves one person dead and traffic blocked at the intersection of Sugar Creek and North Tryon, with at least one person trapped in their vehicle.

Reported shortly after 7:00 Friday morning, a Medic spokesperson reported one death and one person treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The victim’s identity has yet to be released to the public, but reports describe the victim as a woman, saying that she hit a phone pole and at least two vehicles after she lost control of her vehicle at high speed.

The accident leaves the intersection of North Tryon and Sugar Creek closed. Motorists travelling from the University City area can avoid the wreck by taking the Highway 29/49 Connector to I-85, while drivers on Sugar Creek can take the Plaza or Craighead Road.
