Man accused of biting daughter

Justin Paige Shoemake has been charged with felony child abuse, misdemeanor child abuse and assault on a child under 12 after choking and biting his infant daughter.

He is being held in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $200,000 bond.

The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office found bite marks on the three-month-old's ear, nose and lip.  Authorities got alerted by someone after seeing Shoemake choke the infant.

"Numerous serious injuries resulting from extensive physical abuse," the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Caldwell Sheriff Alan Jones said, "We will not tolerate the abuse of children in this county".  The infant is now at a local hospital and in the custody of the department of social services.
