Man and woman rob Bojangles on Freedom Drive

A male and female duo robbed the Bojangles on Freedom Drive early Friday morning. Soon after the stored opened at 5:00AM, a back door was left open. A man dressed in a skeleton mask seized the opportunity and stuck a gun in the back of one of the workers.

He then ordered the worker to the floor. While looking for other employees, his female partner acted nervous, telling the man to hurry up.

Detective Marty Cuthbertson stated that he was commanding the operation and the woman was just with him and that "she's not saying anything."

The man located two more employees and commanded them to lie down. The manager was given instructions to unlock the safe. However, the manager was still new to the store and didn't have the combination. So, the robber demanded the cash drawers. At that time of day, there is only petty cash in each drawer. If the robbery would have taken place later in the day, the cash drawers would have been full.

Detective Cuthbertson says this may have been an inside job, stating that it may have been someone who knows they open that door at certain times during the day when deliveries arrive. It could be an ex-employee or someone with knowledge of that store's operations.

Please call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600 if you have any information. There is up to $1,000 reward money available.
