CMPD Arrests 6 Protesters for Blocking Uptown Intersection

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested six protesters Thursday for impeding traffic at the intersection of Stonewall Street and South Tryon Street.

The protesters were reportedly in the middle of the intersection sitting on a banner by about 2:30 Thursday afternoon. As in the arrests of 10 undocumented immigrants arrested Tuesday for a similar charge, police told the protesters to move for several minutes before taking the group into custody.

Most of the immigrants arrested Tuesday had bonded out of jail by Wednesday morning.
