Medicaid Scheme Lands Shelby Native in Prison

A Shelby native pleaded guilty Thursday in a federal court to charges related to her involvement in a Medicaid scheme.

Sixty-one year-old Linda Smoot Radeker pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud conspiracy and money laundering, all felonies.

Radaker let co-conspirators use her Medicaid number to file false medical claims under the names of children  from the area. She profited over $6 million from the scheme. Radaker could face millions of dollars worth of fines and up to 30 years of prison time.
