Detectives are Investigating an Armed Robbery/Shooting in Freedom Division

UPDATE II: Davenon Farmer is being charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Officer in regards to shooting at a CMPD Patrol Sergeant which took place near Allenbrook Elementary School, subsequent to the robbery of the Thomasboro Grocery store, on April 30, 2010.

Ms. Harvell, Mr. Farmer, Mr. Edwards and Mr. Smith are also being charged with R/W/D/W and Conspiracy to commit R/W/D/W for the ABC store robbery at 4020 Brookshire Blvd, which was committed at 10:41 a.m., on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. This case remains under active investigation and additional charges may follow suit.

UPDATE I: Davenon Farmer, wanted for the robbery of the Thomasboro Grocery on April 30, 2010, was arrested earlier today, May 5, 2010, along with three other suspects for a robbery from person which was committed at 3:29 p.m., along the 1200 block of Seigel Avenue.

After the commission of today’s robbery, Mr. Farmer was one of three male suspects and one female suspect who fled the area up Interstate-77 in an effort to elude capture. Officers from Eastway Division got behind the suspect vehicle and after a brief pursuit which consisted of two minutes, all four suspects were taken into custody for today’s robbery on Seigle Avenue. In addition, Mr. Farmer was charged with the outstanding warrants from the robbery of the Thomasaboro Grocery which occurred on April 30, 2010.

In regards to the robbery today along Seigle Avenue, here are the names and charges of those arrested:

* Kedi Turnonda Harvell; Armed Robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, traffic charges relating to the pursuit.
* Davenon Alexander Farmer; Armed Robbery (aid and abet) from today’s case, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, Armed robbery warrant from Friday, Conspiracy to commit armed robbery from Friday.
* Michael Erwin Smith; Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm (2 counts), possession of firearm by felon, Possession of Marijuana
* Jarrett Terrell Edwards; Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm (2 counts), possession of firearm by felon, Possession of Marijuana

UPDATE: Davenon Farmer (Photo Right) is wanted for Armed Robbery from the Thomasboro Grocery that occurred on April 30th.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Armed Robbery Unit, ADW, and Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation into a robbery that took place at 235 Bradford Drive (Thomasboro Grocery Store) shortly before 8:00 p.m. on April 30, 2010 in the Freedom Division.

Freedom Division officers responded to a call for service at 235 Bradford Drive for an armed robbery. Two masked armed suspects entered the store and demanded money. The victims complied and the suspects fled the scene in a white van displaying a 30-day tag. Officers were on scene and circulating the area, when an on duty patrol sergeant got behind the suspect vehicle.



The Sergeant followed the suspect vehicle while calling for additional patrol units. The vehicle drove to Allenbrook Elementary School where they came to a stop. Four suspects in the vehicle jumped and ran. One of the suspects turned and fired at the CMPD Sergeant. The Sergeant did not return fire and was not injured during the foot pursuit.

Two of the suspects are described as black males, one in his late teens, thin build, wearing dark brown clothing. The other is described as wearing all black clothing. The photo above is that of the suspects.

Officers were able to set up a perimeter immediately following the foot pursuit. K-9 was called to locate a track. ADW, Armed Robbery, Gang, Homicide and Vice Unit Detectives are all on scene as well as the Aviation Unit. Crime Scene arrived on scene to photograph and collect physical evidence.
