Charlotte- Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances which left one person dead. The incident took place at 3250 Braden Court, shortly before 12:30 a.m. on April 15, 2010. The deceased has been identified as Monica Murphy, 30.
North Division officers responded to an Assist Medic call in reference to a female not breathing. When officers arrived on scene, they found Ms. Murphy unconscious and not breathing. The Charlotte Fire Department began CPR and Medic transported the victim to Carolinas Medical Center. Some time later, the victim died from her injuries. Officers on scene arrested the subject who originally called 911; Anthony Daniels and transported him to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning.
Homicide detectives were able to obtain a confession from Mr. Daniels, who is a cousin to the victim and was living with her at the time of her death. This incident involved a verbal and physical dispute.
Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to photograph and collect physical evidence. Mr. Daniels will be charged with Murder and will be transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he will remain in their custody.
