Homicide Detectives Conducting an Investigation in Westover Division

CASE UPDATE: Cameron Edward Butler, Larry Jamar Gilchrist, Billy Williams and Craig Alan Leverette, Jr, have been arrested for the murder of Mr. Kidd. They have been charged with:

- 1 count of Murder
- 3 counts of Attempted Murder
- 1 count Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury

Detectives with VCAT, Homicide, Gang and Firearms, and Vice worked throughtout the weekend locating these subjects.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives are conducting an investigation into a shooting that left one person deceased. The call for service came in at 3:39 a.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010. The victim has been identified as Deandre Demarcus Kidd.

Westover Division officers responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call for service regarding shots fired in the 2700 block of Watson Drive. When officers arrived, they located two subjects that had been shot; one was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main for treatment. The second subject was pronounced on scene by Medic.

Based on initial witness statements, the suspect vehicle was a newer model dark colored Chevy Impala with tinted windows. Detectives believe the shooting occurred on Camp Greene Street in the Metro Division.

Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to photograph it and collect physical evidence. Detectives with Homicide and Gang Units, along with Child Development-Community Policing (CD-CP) were all on scene to assist with the investigation.
