Update: Homicide Detectives arrested Demone Evans and charged him with the murder of Tia Mitchell and Dominique McGriff.Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation into an apparent double homicide in the Westover Division. The incident took place near the 2900 block of Morning Drive. The call for service came in shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, May, 16, 2010.
Westover Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon. When officers arrived on scene, they located two victims in a vehicle with fatal gunshot wounds. Medic pronounced both victims deceased on scene.
The victims have been identified as Dominique McGriff, 21, and Tia Mitchell, 23.
This investigation is in its initial stages. ADW, Homicide, Vice, Gangs and Firearms Unit Detectives are investigating this incident and following up on all leads. Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to photograph it and collect physical evidence.
