Arrests Made in Wendy's Robbery on Charlottetowne Avenue

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested Kwame Hakeem Crawford, Dion Lamar Williams and Salaam Fuquan Felton for a Robbery they committed at the Wendy’s located at 715 Charlottetowne Avenue on September 27, 2010, at approximately 2:30 a.m.

CMPD Central Division officers were dispatched to the restaurant for a robbery in progress call for service. Employees of the restaurant stated they were closing for the night and were approached outside the restaurant by several masked suspects who forced them back inside the restaurant, robbed them and pistol whipped one of the victims.

Central Division officers observed the suspects vehicle a short time after the robbery and pursued the vehicle a short distance with their lights and sirens activated. The suspects stopped the vehicle at West 7th Street and North Poplar Street and fled the scene on foot. Mr. Crawford and Williams were apprehended a short time later and taken into custody.

Officers also recovered the property of one of the victims along with a gun and ski mask believed to be used in the robbery near the area where Crawford and Williams were apprehended. Felton turned himself in at headquarters earlier this morning.

All three suspects have been charged with Attempted Robbery of a Business, Two counts of Robbery of Person, One count of Conspiracy and One count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon to Inflict Serious Injury.
