Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation into a shooting which left one person deceased. The incident took place at 5013 Cherrycrest Lane, which is located in the Steele Creek Division. The call for service was reported at 8:07pm. The victim has been positively identified as Keith Deonte Patterson.
Steele Creek Division officers responded to the Emerald Bay Apartments to investigate a report of an ADW. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene. Witnesses have been transported to police headquarters to provide statements. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood in an effort to identify any additional witnesses and are also looking for a red BMW, occupied by several Hispanic males.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. ADW, Vice, Gang, K-9, and Aviation Units responded to the scene along with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team.
