Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation which left one person deceased. The victim was found inside a residence at 6208 Donna Drive. The victim has been identified as Stephanie Ott.
The initial call for service came into the Charlotte-Fire Department and North Tryon Division officers were assisting with a possible forced entry into the residence. Once entry was made, the victim was found deceased. Based on their observations, they requested CMPD Homicide Detectives. At this preliminary stage, it appears the fire was intentionally set. As a neighborhood canvass was being conducted the suspect was located in a storage shed in the backyard of 6234 Donna Drive. The suspect, Robert Stover, barricaded himself in the shed for a brief period of time before he fatally shot himself.
Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to photograph it and collect physical evidence. The Fire Investigations Division, Homicide Unit, ADW, Arson, and the Gang Unit and a representative from the Homicide Prosecution Team responded to the scene to aid in the investigation.
