Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department A/D/W and Homicide Units are conducting an investigation into a shooting which took place in the parking lot of 3000 East Independence Boulevard in the Providence Division which left Jamie Rea deceased. The call for service was reported at 11:44 pm. on Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
Providence Division officers responded to the EconoLodge to investigate the report of a person shot. When officers arrived on scene, they located a Rea in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim deceased on scene. Based upon initial statements, the Metro Special Police were patrolling the grounds when they heard gunshots and located the victim. Detectives are canvassing the area to determine if there are any additional witnesses to this incident.
Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The K-9 Unit responded to the scene as well.
