Joshua Paul Ryder, 28, is in Mecklenburg County jail, charged with armed robbery, attempted rape, assault with a deadly weapon and second degree kidnapping. He stole a womans' car at the Carolina Place Mall and dragged her along in the process- breaking several bones in her hand.
A woman at an apartment complex recognized the 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 Ryder is accused of stealing after seeing the robbery story on the news. Police say a woman picked a man up at Carolina Place Mall around noon on Wednesday and offered him a ride.
