Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged Steven Toman, 22, (Left) and Michael Spears (Right) 44, in connection with five armed robberies and kidnapping cases.

Three of the robberies occurred on Saturday & Sunday. The duo committed two more robberies on Monday before they were caught and arrested.

On Monday night around 11:15 pm, a man was approached by two men while sitting in his car in a parking lot on Central Avenue. Police say one of the suspects put a knife to the victims neck and demanded money. When the victim resisted, he was stabbed and forced to give up his wallet.

One suspect stole the victims car and drove him to a nearby bank where they forced him to withdraw money from an ATM. The other robber followed in another vehicle, police say. The victim was let out of his car on Wilkinson Boulevard and called police. A short time later, police spotted the victim and suspect vehicles and gave chase, stopping them near the corner of South and East Boulevards.

Police captured and arrested Toman but Spears ran. Police say Spears abducted another man and forced him to drive to a club on South Boulevard. The victim was released unharmed and officers arrested Spears shortly afterward in the club.
