Woman Shot through Window

Around 2 pm today, a drive-by shooting sent a woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The shooting occurred at the Reddmans Pier apartments, which are located on Reddman Road in East Charlotte. Police said the victim, whose name has not been released, was sleeping inside her 1st floor apartment when pellets from a shotgun blast came through the wall and hit her. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries to her chest and arm.

According to
WCNC, police initially called the incident a drive by shooting. At first, officers thought two cars were involved but now they know there was only one. Officers said a passenger, from the car, got out and fired two shotgun blasts into the apartment building. Police said the gunman could not have seen their target. Police are looking for those suspects. The two suspects were last seen in a red Dodge Stratus.

As of 6 pm Friday, the woman was listed in serious but stable condition. Reddmans Pier is located in the Central Avenue corridor, which the federal government pledged $1 million to earlier this week. The money is part of the "Weed and Seed" program to reduce crime in troubled areas of the country. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 704-334-1600.
