New reports reveal Marshall "Vann" Crenshaw was a convicted baby killer prior to killing his girlfriend's baby on Friday in Charlotte, NC. Crenshaw was found guilty of murder 20 years ago in the April 1985 death of his 10 month old daughter, Dale-Lyn, in Manchester, Conn.

According to The Hartford Courant, Crenshaw was sentenced to 25 years in prison and was released in 2002- after serving 16 years. Before Dale-Lyn died, the 10 month old baby was taken from her parents in Manchester and placed in a foster home for several months amid allegations of physical and sexual abuse. She was barely 2 months old when doctors treated her for a broken arm that her father said happened when he dropped her after tripping over the family cat.

A juvenile court judge allowed Crenshaw and the child's mother, Susan Lard, to regain custody of Dale-Lyn after they went through counseling and parenting classes. Five months later, on April 20, 1985, the infant arrived at Manchester Memorial Hospital with bruises on her head that her parents initially told police had been caused when she tipped a table on herself. Later, Crenshaw told detectives he had suffocated his daughter by pressing her head into a crib mattress.
