Dozens of Charlotte, NC neighborhoods are making plans for National Night Out on Aug 1st. National Night Out is a nationwide campaign to get people to gather in their neighborhoods to promote crime prevention.
You can register your community on the national site. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are also taking registrations to track Charlotte events and send officers to visit. Sometimes politicians will stop by, too. Deadline is July 26. To get a form: Call 704-336-2310 or E-mail: hkimbell1@cmpd.org
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
-Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
-Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs.
-Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
-Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
