Dozens of Charlotte, NC neighborhoods are making plans for National Night Out on Aug 1st. National Night Out is a nationwide campaign to get people to gather in their neighborhoods to promote crime prevention. You can register your community on the national site. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are also taking registrations to track Charlotte events and send officers to visit. Sometimes politicians will stop by, too. Deadline is July 26. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:-Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
-Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs.
-Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
-Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
