Police believe two home invasions, one in east Charlotte and another in south Charlotte, may be connected. The first home invasion took place around 3:30 a.m. in a home on Valley Stream Road, off Park Road.
Three people were in the home at the time of the invasion. A suspect broke into the home and shot one of them, according to police. The shooting victim was taken to Presbyterian Hospital. The suspect then stole a white Nissan Maxima from the home, police said. That car was recovered near Sheffield Drive where the second home invasion took place.
Police said two suspects broke into a home in the 3900 block of Sheffield Drive just before 6 a.m. One suspect fired a shot into the ground and the pair stole a white Toyota Sequoia and a red Honda Civic. Minutes later officers spotted the vehicles on Independence Boulevard and began to chase them. The driver of the Sequoia crashed near the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Briar Creek. The suspect then jumped from the car and ran. Police set up a perimeter and were able to catch him around 6:05 a.m.
The red Honda Civic with the other suspect in it has not been seen since the Sequoia crashed. Officers took the driver of the Sequoia into custody. They are trying to determine if the two home invasions are connected since they found the white Nissan Maxima near the house where the second home invasion occurred. Source: WCNC
