Overnight Crimes in Charlotte

UPDATE: Tommie Morrell was arrested. He is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail on charges of murder & assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating two fatal shootings and one stabbing- all of which occurred overnight in Charlotte, NC:

The first incident occurred at 2:35 am. at 2401 Wilkinson Boulevard. Police responded to the Vox Sports Tavern for a report of shots fired. When police arrived, they found 20-year-old Pearlonda Davida Rountree lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Later, a man showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot. Police had no suspects as of 11:20 a.m this morning.

The second shooting happened at 821 Villa Court, at the Villa Court Apartments. Around 4:45 am., officers responded to a shooting report and found 25-year-old Lashonda Lashay Brooks dead and 27-year-old Timothy Maurice Hamlin with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. Police said an argument got out of hand and led to the shooting. Hamlin was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Police issued warrants for murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury for Tommie Morrell III, 32. (Shown Right)

Later in the morning, someone at 5201 Victoria Avenue was stabbed several times in the upper torso, police said. The person was taken to CMC with life-threatening injuries.
