16 Year Old Runs from Police

An Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) officer fired his weapon during a traffic stop on Tuesday night, which led to a wreck just blocks away. The ABC officer pulled over Jorge Luis Marin, 16, around 11:15 pm near the Plaza in east Charlotte.

It is unclear why Officer T. Lashby fired his weapon at the suspect's car, but his shots broke a window injuring Martin's face. After the shots were fired Martin drove away toward Maywood Drive, near the Charlotte Country Club. That's where he wrecked the car allowing police to catch up with him to apprehend him.

Martin was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was treated and released to police who arrested him on a slew of charges including assault with a deadly weapon on a government officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by a minor, resisting arrest, and speeding to elude police.
