John William Worthey, (left) is a 48 year old father of five who is sitting in jail charged with several counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and a charge of a first degree sex offense with a victim under 13 years of age. He is accused of shipping and receiving child pornography. Worthey's bail is set at $700,000.6NEWS learned several agencies worked together to lock him up. Worthey was arrested on Friday night in Matthews. Agents with the Postal Inspectors Office and the Internet Crimes Against Children task force said Worthey corresponded with someone in the state of Ohio not knowing that someone was an undercover agent.
Investigators said that Worthey is a divisional parts and sales manager for Hyundai. He does not volunteer or work around children. Worthey is married with five children and is only facing state charges at this point. However, the Feds are actively pursuing the case, which means he may soon have the federal government to deal with.
