Around 7:30 last night- two men broke into an apartment at the Blackhawk Apartments on Countryside Drive and attempted to rob an apartment. Oscar Harris, a neighbor- intervened, stopped the robbery and the suspects left.A short time later, the two robbers returned and fired shots at the apartment building where the neighbor halted their robbery plan. Harris then returned fire with his shotgun from inside his apartment- aiming at the robbers vehicle as they tried to get away. Police were at the scene when the shots were fired and were able to apprehend the neighbor who shot back. Police say he was arrested for firearm violations.
The police found the robber's vehicle with two women inside- but did not locate the suspects. Police do not believe the women were involved in the break-in. Police said they didn't think anyone was hurt, but they are checking local hospitals to make sure either suspect didn't show up with a gunshot wound.
