A crime of opportunity turned into a hideous attack early Sunday morning at a south Charlotte apartment complex. A man was getting things out of his car outside his Providence Court apartment- just off Pineville-Matthews Road. An armed attacker approached him and hit him on the head with his gun.Investigators say the man forced the resident back into the second-story apartment, where he robbed him and his 22-year-old female roommate and raped her. Police said the robber should be considered very dangerous.
Residents of the apartment complex, which is right next to Providence High School, were genuinely shocked to here about the incident, especially because the complex is gated. Police said the attacker is described as a black man in his early 20's who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt at the time.
