In early December, a man was robbed and assaulted at the Providence Square Apartments. The victim was in the parking lot when a robber hit him over the head with a gun and led him to his apartment at gunpoint. Once inside the apartment, the armed robber brutally raped the man's roommate.The victim's identified Jason Omar Hines (R) as the man who attacked them and he was arrested for rape and robbery on December 5th. In addition to the rape and robbery charges, Hines was arrested for a December 3rd murder at the Waterford Creek Apartments.
Crime scene technicians were able to collect evidence from the rape crime scene and sent it to the lab for DNA testing. As it turns out, the DNA evidence matched another man named Daryl Lamonte Cathcart, 23. (R)According to DOC records, Cathcart has a criminal history going back to 2001. He was convicted of receiving a stolen vehicle in 2001 and for breaking and entering motor vehicles in 2003. He received probation for both charges- which he has violated several times.
