Around 1:30 this afternoon, a man was inside a store when he witnessed Robert McClinton (R) stealing his car from a parking lot located near the corner of Independence Blvd and Idlewild Rd.The victim ran to his car and jumped in the car window as the car thief started to drive away with his car. McClinton crashed the car into one of the pillars at the shopping center and ran from the scene. McClinton was apprehended by police at the corner of Monroe Rd. and Idlewild Rd.
The scary part of this incident is that a baby was behind the window in the path of the car and could have been killed by this thug! As usual, Robert McClinton has an extensive criminal record and he is only 17! Since February of 2006, McClinton has been arrested eight times. If he went to court for any of his prior charges, they were dismissed because he does not appear in the NC DOC database.
