UPDATE: 5/15/07: Dewan Antonio Garris (R) turned himself in to police today. He is in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a $210,000 bond.Last Friday, Dewan Antonio Garris broke down the back door of a residence on Camp Greene Street where a mentally disabled woman was home alone.
Police say Garris raped the woman and beat her before he took off. Police have obtained warrants for Garris on the following charges: Rape, Sex Offense, Breaking and Entering, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault on a handicapped person.
