Matthews Bank Robbery Suspect

Matthews Police are looking for the man (shown below) who robbed the Sun Trust Bank on West John Street in Matthews around 4:00 pm on Thursday. According to police, the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect grabbed the money and left the bank on foot. The suspect was last seen leaving the bank in a light colored four-door sedan either light blue or light gray.

The suspect is described as a black male between 5'8 and 5'10. He had a full beard-neatly trimmed and was nearly 280 lbs. At the time of the robbery, he wore long blue jean shorts with multiple logos on the front and back, a polo type shirt with a light colored stripe across the chest.
He also had a maroon baseball cap with a New York Yankees logo on front. Anyone with information is asked to call Matthews Police at 704-847-5555.
