Concerned Neighbors Help Police Catch Burglars
On July 24, 2008, Westover and Steele Creek Division Officers apprehended four subjects who were involved in a residential burglary on Nations Ford Road. A concerned neighbor called 911 after he witnessed five male subjects removing items from a home and loading them into a gray van. The neighbor was able to provide officers with both a vehicle description and a tag number for the vehicle, however, when officers arrived at the residence on Nations Ford Road the five male subjects and the gray van had already fled the scene.
Minutes later 911 operators received a second call from another concerned citizen when they saw five male subjects running from a van that was parked in a driveway on Nations Ford Road. The witness made the call to 911 because he saw the subjects dropping clothing and other items which the witness thought to be suspicious.
Officers arrived on scene and immediately all five subjects took off running towards the Green Needles Apartments and surrounding neighborhoods. After Westover and Steele Creek officers set up a perimeter, K9 was able to successfully track and apprehend four of the five subjects. Officers also discovered that the gray van used by the subjects in the burglary had been stolen earlier. In addition, all of the items taken from the victim were recovered and returned.
The following four subjects were all charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle: Thomas Vernon James, Phillip Michael James, Ethan Jamarr Samuel, Felix Antonio Patton
