Update: The victim in this incident has been identified as Thomas Sellers, 21. The suspect in this incident has been identified as Chanice Borum, 20. Ms. Borum was taken into custody without incident by S.W.A.T. shortly after 6 p.m. She is currently at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Headquarters building being questioned by Homicide Detectives.

A 21-year old male was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with a stab wound to his chest. The injury appears to be life threatening at this time. The suspect in this stabbing is a female; she and the victim are known to each other. This is not a random act of violence.
The incident took place in the Shadowood Apartment Complex shortly after 5 p.m., on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The assault took place in the parking lot area of one of the buildings of the complex. After the assault, the suspect ran into an apartment and refused to come out. She has since barricaded herself and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department S.W.A.T. Team is mobilizing.
Units in the vicinity of the apartment that the suspect ran into have been evacuated. The CMPD Homicide Unit has been notified and detectives are responding to the scene. The Charlotte Fire Department and Medic responded to the scene; Medic transported to victim to CMC.
