First Citizens Bank Robbed in Mint Hill

The Mint Hill Police Department and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual who recently robbed the First Citizens Bank, located at 6930 Matthews Mint Hill Road.

On January 28, 2009, at approximately 1:16 p.m., a lone male entered the bank and approached one of the tellers brandishing a handgun. After demanding and receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the teller, the suspect exited the bank and fled the area in a small, silver automobile. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5'9" - 10" in height, of medium build, about 30's in age and wearing a black ski mask. Investigators from the Mint Hill Police Department and the FBI Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force responded to the robbery and are investigating this matter.


The Safe Streets Task Force and the Mint Hill Police Department are releasing the attached images from the bank’s surveillance system to help further identify the suspect. Anyone with information regarding this case is requested to contact the FBI at (704) 377-9200.
