Homicide Detectives have charged Gary Lavon Daniels with the murder of Charney Watt. Mr. Daniels and Ms. Watt were boyfriend and girlfriend.------------------
Detectives are currently investigating a domestic related homicide at 5516 Laborde Ave. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 01, 2009, at 1:18 p.m., in the North Division.
North Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to someone being shot. When officers arrived on scene they located the victim, Charney Danell Watt lying inside of the residence, located at 5516 Laborde Ave suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives say Watt was pronounced deceased on the scene by Medic.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe this is a domestic related shooting which resulted after an altercation between Ms. Watt and the suspect. At this time, a suspect has been identified and is being transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by Homicide detectives.
Homicide Unit detectives canvassed the neighborhood and Crime Scene Search units are processing the scene for physical evidence.
