Case Update: Family notification for the victim in last night’s homicide at 4400 Tuckaseegee Road has been completed by Homicide detectives. The victim is Scott Larnell Jones.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Detectives are investigating a homicide at 4400 Tuckaseegee Road. The incident occurred on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 9:08 p.m. in the Freedom Division.
Freedom Division officers responded to a call for service in reference to a shots fired call where one person had been shot. When officers arrived on scene they located a male gunshot victim lying in the back yard of 4400 Tuckaseegee Rd. Charlotte Fire Department and Medic arrived on scene, treated the victim, and transported him to Carolinas Medical Center. The victim underwent surgery on Monday, March 2, 2009 and died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 1:45 a.m. due to the injuries he sustained. The male victim has been identified, pending family notification; the victim’s name will be released.
According to witness statements, they observed an altercation between the victim and an unknown suspect, shots were fired, and then a burgundy Dodge Charger occupied by several subjects was seen leaving the scene.
While the ADW unit conducted the initial investigation, when the victim passed away the case was transferred to the Homicide Unit.
