
CMPD Homicide detectives have charged Marcus Avery Moore with Conspiracy, Accessory After the Fact to a Felony, and Aid and Abetting in reference to today, March 26, 2009, earlier incident on Harrill St.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. officers were conducting a drug investigation as part of the Belmont Crime Initiative on Harrill St. During the investigation a suspect fired several rounds at the officers' vehicle.
The officer was uninjured in the gunfire. The officers put out a description of the suspect vehicle and located the vehicle a short time later still in the Belmont community; one occupant of the vehicle was subsequently taken into police custody without further incident.
The suspect has been transported to Police Headquarters where he will be interviewed by Homicide detectives. Once the suspect is formally charged and transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail, their name will be released.
Homicide Unit detectives canvassed the neighborhood and Crime Scene Search units are processing the scene for physical evidence.
