The Charlotte Safe Street’s Task Force is asking for assistance from the public in identifying three men who robbed the Wachovia Bank branch at 6101 South Boulevard on April 10, 2009.Witnesses saw three men get out of a Jeep Cherokee after lunch time and go into the bank. One suspect threatened employees and customers with a gun, ordering everyone to the floor while the other robber ran behind the counter and grabbed cash from the drawers. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.
The robbers and getaway driver abandoned the Jeep Cherokee a short distance from the bank. Charlotte Mecklenburg Police officers found it shortly after the robbery and discovered the Jeep had been stolen from the AMC Theater parking lot on South Boulevard only half an hour before the robbery.
All three men covered their faces; however, one suspect’s face is partially visible in surveillance photos. Investigators think someone will recognize the suspect or may know something about the robbery.
