A witness to a bank robbery at the Bank of Granite at 3920 Sharon Road got a good look at the Bearded Bandit this morning, giving detectives a new clue about the serial bank robber’s identity.
A witness noticed a portion of the robber’s neck that was not covered by make-up. Detectives now believe he is a white man, not a Hispanic or black man. Witnesses have given different descriptions in the other robberies linked to the Bearded Bandit because he is covering his exposed skin with make-up. He’s also using a wig, fake facial hair, glasses, a hat, gloves and a padded suit to disguise his true identity.
This is the 11th robbery linked to the Bearded Bandit in the last three years. The most recent was on November 25, 2008 at the Wachovia at 10210 Couloak Drive. He has used a weapon in all the robberies, and even threatened customers forcing them to the floor.
The Charlotte Safe Streets Task Force considers this man to be armed and dangerous to the public. If anyone has any information regarding the robberies or the robber, they are asked to call the Charlotte Division of the FBI at 704-377-9200 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600
