Update: Homicide Detectives arrested Eddie Bell Jr., for the murder of Trudy Montgomery. Mr. Bell is in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office; held without bond. ---------------------------------
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide and ADW Unit Detectives are currently conducting a homicide investigation at 937 Wabash Avenue in the Freedom Division. The victim has been identified as Trudy R. Montgomery, 47. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 2:21 a.m.
Freedom Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at a residence at 937 Wabash Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they found the victim suffering from apparent trauma to the head. At this time the manner of death is unknown. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. Residents of the home in which the victim lived found her inside the home and called 911.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit and the ADW Unit are conducting a canvass of the neighborhood. Crime Scene Search is on scene as well, photographing the scene and collecting physical evidence.
