Case Update: Earlier today, CMPD Homicide Detectives were able to identify a suspect and quickly obtain a warrant for his arrest. The VCAT Team was able to locate and apprehend the suspect for the murder of Mr. Cousar. Keyo Shamanne Hickson was taken into custody without incident. He will be transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he will remain in their custody.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation at 5832 Reddman Road. The victim has been identified as Khalif Omar Cousar. The cause of this incident appears to be a Robbery from Person.
At 11:32 p.m., Hickory Grove Division officers received a call for service in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was located at 6300 Albemarle Road after being driven away from the scene by a witness. Officers summoned Medic who pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit and A/D/W Unit are on scene conducting the investigation. Crime Scene Search is on scene as well, photographing the scene and collecting physical evidence.
