Detectives Investigating a Shooting on Squirrel Hill Rd

Case Update: Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Gang Unit worked throughout the day investigating leads and made arrests in connection to the altercation that took place at Faces Nightclub which may have led to the shooting at 815 Squirrel Hill Road that resulted in a 3 year old suffering a gunshot wound to the knee.

Anthony D. Mackin, and Warren L. Griffin were arrested on assault charges. The McVay brothers, Cameron L. McVay, was arrested for Stolen Vehicle and Assault; and Quentin A. McVay for Communicating Threats. They all will be transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where they will remain in their custody.

All were arrested due to an altercation that took place at Faces Nightclub earlier in the evening. Detectives believe this incident stemmed from a gang related altercation between rival gangs.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department A/D/W Unit Detectives are conducting an investigation into a shooting into the residence at 815 Squirrel Hill Road . The call for service came in at 3:25 a.m., on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. During the course of the shooting, a three year old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the left knee. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he will remain for several days. He is in serious condition and may need surgery as a result of his injury.

CMPD North Tryon Division officers received a call for service in reference to shots fired into the home at 815 Squirrel Hill Road. When officers arrived, they were met by the home’s occupants who stated that a toddler had been shot in the leg. Medic responded with the CFD and treated the victim on scene and then transported him to CMC. Nine victims were inside the home at the time of the shooting; only the toddler was injured.

Based on initial witness and victim statements, ADW detectives believe that this shooting is connected to an altercation that took place earlier at club Faces. This incident is believed to be between people who are known to each other; it is not a random act of violence. Crime Scene Search photographed the scene and collected physical evidence.
