Arrest Made in the Seigle Avenue Robbery & Shooting

UPDATE: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested Demonte Johnson for his role in an armed robbery and shooting which occurred at 633 Seigle Avenue.

On Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Mr. Johnson assisted two other suspects who entered the DRK Barber Shop and demanded money. The victim resisted and was shot in the groin. The suspects took money from the victim’s pockets. An employee of the barber shop returned fire at the suspects, who in turn shot at him before fleeing the area in a vehicle.

Mr. Johnson was quickly located by Eastway Division Officers and arrested without incident. He is currently in the Mecklenburg County Jail facing charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to Tuesday’s incident.
Demonte Johnson was placed on electronic monitoring on February 25, 2010, after posting a $375,000 bond for a January 18, 2010, armed robbery charge which is still pending.
