UPDATE: Family requesting help from public to solve Alston's murder
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department A/D/W and Homicide Detectives are conducting an investigation into a shooting that occurred at 3212 Minnesota Road. The murder victim has been identified as 44-year old Tony Alston.
Metro Division officers received an assault with a deadly weapon call for service shortly after midnight on April 3, 2010. Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying in the grass suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main where he died due to his injuries.
This investigation is in its initial stages. ADW and Homicide Unit detectives will continue to actively work on this investigation. The limited suspect description at this time is a black male wearing a gray t-shirt fleeing the scene.
Crime Scene Search is on scene actively collecting physical evidence and photographing the scene.
