The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested Dequavious Joseph on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at approximately 8:00 p.m. after Steele Creek Officers were dispatched to a robbery in progress call in the 7900 block of Shady Oak Trail. The victim called 911 and stated that an armed man approached him in the parking lot of his apartment complex. The suspect ordered him to get into the trunk of the victims car before the suspect took the victim’s wallet, cell phone and GPS and ran from the scene.
K-9 and the Aviation Unit assisted officers on the ground in locating a man matching the description of the suspect. The victims property was recovered where the suspect was contacted. Dequavious Joseph has been charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and 2nd degree Kidnapping. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600
