CMPD South Division Officers Arrest B&E Suspects

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers arrested Derrick Brooks and Sherrod Pauley on January 31, 2011, at approximately 11:00 pm, when officers were dispatched to a call of a home break-in that occurred at an apartment in the 6800 block of Poppy Hills Lane.

The victim stated he was in his apartment when the suspect broke into his residence. The victim stated he got out of bed and retrieved his gun as he met the suspect in the entrance to the victims bedroom. The victim stated the suspect began to advance towards him and he fired one shot that missed as the suspect ran out of the apartment and got into a waiting Ford Explorer before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

A short time later, officers observed an Explorer matching the description of the vehicle the suspect fled in. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested both suspects without incident.

Derrick Brooks and Sherrod Pauley have both been charged with First Degree Burglary.

This is Sherrod Pauley’s 13th arrest in Mecklenburg County and Derrick Brooks' 8th arrest since 2008!
