Charlotte Robbery Suspect Arrested in York County

Antwan McCorkle (WSOC)
Yesterday, the York County Sheriff’s Office arrested Antwan Damarice McCorkle for having several outstanding warrants in Mecklenburg County for armed robbery and felony serious injury by vehicle.  He was considered armed and dangerous.

Officers with the CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) Team received information that McCorkle was inside a unit of Palmetto Place Apartments located on Highway 160 in the Fort Mill, SC area.

CMPD officers contacted the York County Sheriff’s Office and confirmed McCorkle was at the apartment. Contact was made with McCorkle but he refused to surrender to officers. There was also a teenage female in the apartment.

The York County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was activated and responded to the location.  Deputies were able to extract the teenager from the apartment through a second story window securing her to safety. Deputies then entered the unit and located Antwan McCorkle and took him into custody.  No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, Fort Mill Police Department and the York County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the apprehension of McCorkle.  As more information is released by CMPD PIO's, I will update this post.
