Craigslist Ad Leads to Robbery Arrests in University Area

CMPD officers responded to an armed robbery call at an apartment in the 1000 block of Graduate Lane.   The victim stated he responded to a Craigslist advertisement for a used car he was interested in purchasing.   The victim gave his address to the suspects and agreed to meet them so he could inspect the vehicle for sale.

University City Division officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have arrested Oqualin Chambers, Daryl Height, Demarcus Osborne and Terrice Morgan.

The suspects arrived at his address and the victim let them into his apartment, a short time later, one of the suspects produced a handgun and ordered the victim to give them his money. The suspects removed the victim’s money and other belongings before running out of the apartment, getting into a car and leaving the apartment complex.   A description of the car was broadcast through CMPD communications. A short time later, officers stopped the suspects’ vehicle on I-85 near W.T. Harris Blvd and detained the driver and passengers. The victim was transported to the scene of the car stop and positively identified the suspects as the men who robbed him.

All four suspects have been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Anyone with additional information concerning this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
