Detectives Investigating a Domestic Assault in the Steele Creek Division

UPDATE:   On Sunday, May 6, 2012, at approximately 10:30am, Emanee Womack was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries. A warrant for murder has been filed against the suspect, Sharrandon Adams. He remains in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.  Ms. Womack is Charlotte's 18th murder victim of 2012.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Homicide Unit, A/D/W Unit and Domestic Violence Unit are conducting an investigation into a Domestic Violence related assault that occurred at 2625 O’Hara Drive in the Steele Creek Division. The call for service came in at 11:18pm on Saturday, May 5, 2012. The victim, who remains hospitalized in critical condition, has been identified as Emanee Womack.

Providence Division patrol officers responded to Carolinas Medical Center in reference to what doctors believed to be a possible Domestic Violence related injury. Upon arrival at CMC officers made contact with Ms. Womack’s boyfriend, Sharrandon Adams.  Mr. Adams advised that he and Ms. Womack got into an altercation at 2625 O’Hara Drive where he pushed her and she fell and hit her head.  He stated that they left and went to 1248 West Boulevard where they continued the altercation and Ms. Womack subsequently became unconscious.  Medic responded to the address on West Boulevard and transported Ms. Womack to CMC for treatment of her injuries. Mr. Adams has been arrested and is being charged with Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.

This case remains under active investigation.
