Detectives Conducting a Robbery Investigation in the Providence Division

UPDATE: Detectives have charged Lejarris Williams, with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Resisting Arrest, in connection to this case.

The Robbery Unit will continue to work to determine whether or not Williams is the suspect who committed the earlier assaults on employees of Presbyterian Hospital in June of 2012.  Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Robbery are conducting an investigation into an Armed Robbery which occurred at 1901 Randolph Road in the Providence Division. The call for service came in at 4:05 p.m., on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Providence Division patrol officers responded to Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital in reference to an armed robbery which was committed in the elevator of the parking deck. The suspect, a black male, ran from the scene towards Vail Avenue, where Presbyterian Hospital Security located him and tried to arrest him. As Presbyterian Security struggled with the suspect, patrol officers with the Providence Division arrived on scene and took the suspect into custody at 2200 Vail Avenue.

A handgun and the victim’s purse were recovered at the scene of the arrest. The suspect is currently at CMPD Headquarters being questioned by Robbery Detectives. The suspect’s name is being withheld to allow detectives ample time to investigate this case and to determine whether or not the suspect may have been involved in the two previous assaults at Presbyterian Hospital in June of 2012.
