Lincolnton Man Gets 7 Years for Child Porn on Facebook


James Paul Byrd, 40, was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison this week. He plead guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess and distribution of child pornography. Byrd,

He was charged by a federal grand jury in Nobember 2010 of using Facebook to distribute child pornography.  Three months earlier the FBI searched his home and found hundreds of child pornography pictures on several computers and other storage devices.  Five other co-defendants from various places in the nation were also charged.

Byrd will be placed on 10 years of supervision after his release and was also ordered by a US District Court Judge to register as a sex offender. Byrd was formerly a branch manager at Lincolnton's First Federal Savings Bank.
