Tuesday is National Night Out for Crime Prevention!

Tuesday August 7th is this year's National Night Out. This is a planned event in which communities throughout the nation are encouraged to work together with each other and with law enforcement to fight back against crime and heighten  awareness. Many communities throughout the country and in the Charlotte area have planned to throw neighborhood parties or BBQ's as part of  the event, which is sponsored by National Association of Town Watch together with Target Corporation to make NNO a free event.

Started in 1983, this makes the event's 29th year generating support for anti-crime programs. National Night Out is a great way to strengthen the relationship between members of the community and local law enforcement.  Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are expected to attend events throughout the area. In a display of unified crime prevention, residents are asked to keep their porch lights on throughout the night.  You can find out more about NNO by visiting their website.
